Music In The Family Tree

During the Roaring Twenties, my great grandfather conducted for the Commodore, an iconic hotel connected to Grand Central Station in New York City. His orchestra played the largest ballroom in the country at the time.

From notes attached to a 1928 record, we learn that he was a Russian violinist who first led an orchestra in 1918 at the age of twenty eight.

Ben came out of the womb tuned to music, so it's fun for me to think about these roots as he takes his first music lessons. Ben also chose the violin.
